Jim Escobar, founder and principal architect of neUdesign Architecture located in downtown Meridian, is planning to expand the firm’s offices later this year. His company has purchased an historic bar in downtown Meridian, the 127 Club, which his company will redesign and renovate as office space.
Such expansions are made known to the public through flyer printing, with further details about any new services that may be offered.
Escobar had been a member of the Meridian Development Corporation Board of Commissioners for over 10 years and feels that downtown Meridian is an area that is beginning to grow and become energized.
In addition to the expansion of neUdesign Architecture, Josh Evarts, a local developer, is currently working on the Old Town Lofts, a mixed-use development of retail space. and apartments, also in downtown Meridian. This project is on a square block between Meridian Road and Main Street in the downtown urban renewal area, and will feature two four-story buildings. There will be parking lot in the middle with spaces for 105 staff members.
The project will also have 16,000 square feet of commercial space and 102 apartments with both one- and two-bedrooms units. The development will be 1,200 square feet and will be funded by the Pacific Companies, with over $400,000 in infrastructure reimbursements from the Meridian Development Corporation. It is expected to be completed by the summer of 2021.
