The Idaho State Board of Education has approved an expansion of the Health Science campus of Idaho State University (ISU) in Meridian, across 23 acres of farmland.
The property is north of the campus on Locust Grove Road and will enable ISU to enter into a development agreement with the city, and embark upon an expansion that would take place over several decades. This agreement will enable the university to build on programs that already exist on the Meridian campus and establish ISU-Meridian as a home of health research and education for the state.
Local Print shops often use Brochures, Flyers, and other printed materials to spread the word about such projects and their benefits for a community.
There are about 1,000 students at the graduate level, and 160 staff and faculty at the Meridian campus. Audiology, pharmaceutical sciences, and an accelerated nursing track are among the academic programs offered, as well as all levels of college degrees.
Vice president for campus operations at ISU, Brian Sagendorf, said that the university received $8.4m in capital funds from the permanent building fund of the legislature in July 2023 with $5.4m allocated for the expansion.
Meridian city officials expressed their excitement about the prospect of this expanded campus and the many more skilled healthcare professionals that would result from this program. Robert Simison, mayor of Merdian, said that he hopes this project will make the city the medical epicenter of the state.
