The Meridian City Council has voted to move forward with a mixed-use project on the Civic Block.
This property is on E. Idaho Avenue and comprises five parcels of land that include a parking lot, the Meridian Community Center, and Centennial Park. It will be developed by River Caddis Development. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents of planned projects.
Current plans by River Caddis include turning 2nd Street in a Festival Street, increasing the amount of open space from close to 20,000 square feet occupied by Centennial Park to just over 72,000 square feet, a U93 Event Plaza to span 44,000 square feet, and adding a corner plaza that will cover 1,800 square feet. There will also be an apartment complex with rooftop amenities, a hot tub, and a pool, as well as commercial spaces and 100 public parking spaces.
The property is within the Meridian Opportunity Zone and is an urban renewal district. This will help to fund the development of the property while also being tax efficient.
River Caddis is planning to hold an open house later this month and a public hearing with the city council in July or August. The preliminary schedule for the project is to design it and gather permits this fall and winter, with most of the construction to follow and a grand opening planned for 2024.
