The Children’s Museum of Idaho in Meridian is planning to expand to keep up with the increasing number of visitors it has been experiencing.
The museum opened in 2018, with over 100,000 visitors coming to the museum so far in 2023. Perhaps to cope with this demand, the decision has been made to add more exhibits and expand its space.
The director of the Children’s Museum of Idaho, Jan Lynch, said that it will have the Channel 7 studio, a planetarium, and a one earth exhibit. Lynch added that there will also be a new entrance and several other surprises regarding the scope of exhibits for visitors. The expansion will add 4,000 square feet to the museum and increase its size by one and half times.
Lynch says a capital campaign to raise funds for the expansion started in April and typically takes several years. So far, about $1.7 million has been raised due to a donation of $1 million from CapEd Credit Union and other sponsorships. This is about 70% of the funds needed for the expansion.
People can contribute to the funding of the project by purchasing legacy bricks that will be part of the new courtyard at the entrance. A 4x4 brick costs $150, an 8x8 brick is $300, and businesses can include their Logo Design on a brick for $500.
The project is already on schedule and expected to be completed in a short time once the full funding has been achieved.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
