East Idaho Credit Union (EICU), based in Idaho Falls, has broken ground on a new branch building in Meridian. The bank had purchased some property at the intersection of Franklin Road and Ten Mile Road.
CEO of the credit union, Dan Thurman, said that Meridian is a beautiful area and a central point for the Treasure Valley. He added that the bank has strong roots in the Treasure Valley and expressed his excitement about having a branch in Meridian.
More details and information about this new branch can be made available to the community with brochure printing.
EICU began in 1935 as Idaho Falls US Government Employees Federal Credit Union and is currently the fastest growing credit union in the state. It started with 24 members and $52.75 in assets. Twenty-five years later, it had locations in Eastern Idaho in nine counties, and soon renamed itself as East Idaho Federal Credit Union. In 1998, its charter changed to one from the state, so it dropped the word “Federal” from its name.
EICU has 12 locations and focuses on Idaho Falls with branches from Arco to Rexburg to Challis. It now has $652m in assets and more than 48,000 members.
It currently leases space in Meridian on Eagle Road. The credit union is suggesting it will have a fresh look, which it will announce this month.
