Splash park with water features opens in Davenport
The new Dohse Splash and Play Park is now open in Davenport.
This new feature is near the Hayes Elementary School and replaces what was once the Dohse Pool. There is a feature that fills with water and then throws it on visitors and many different water fountains in the park. There is a new play park next to the splash pad for those who prefer not to get wet with climbing equipment, embankment slides, and a play structure.
Banner printing can be used at such new parks to inform residents of their features and amenities.
Director of Parks and Recreation, Chad Dyson, said that his department is proud to see the completion of this project and is looking forward to the impact of a positive nature that it will have on the neighborhood, Hayes Elementary, and the community at large.
Part of the funding in the amount of close to $900,000 for the new splash pad and park was from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Development of the splash pad and park began in 2022 with the goal of providing a water amenity and a playground that would be open all year for residents in the area to enjoy.
The play park and the splash pad will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily during the summer breaks of the Davenport Community Schools.
