Suniva, a manufacturer of solar cells, is planning to restart its factory on Norcross thanks to new incentives from the federal government and an investment of $110 million from Orion Infrastructure Capital to buy new equipment and expand its production capacity.
The company will resume making solar cells at its existing factory in Norcross and plans to hire 240 people. A job fair announcing such positions can benefit from local printing services for the creation of Flyers and Posters to make those in the area aware of such opportunities.
Solar cells are a major part of solar panels, and Suniva is currently the only company in the United States making these cells, although there are other companies planning to ramp up production of these cells. Suniva said that, initially, the factory will be able to produce enough solar cells that will generate one gigawatt of electricity. A planned expansion will then enable it to raise output to 2.5 gigawatts.
The climate and healthcare law of the current administration provided for additional tax breaks for solar panels made in the United States. Those who purchase solar panels made in the United States will now get an additional tax credit of 10%, on top of the regular tax credit of 30% for investments in renewable energy.
