The Gwinnett Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) will be presenting an informational session on how to become a foster parent, also called Resource Parent, at the Norcross branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library next month.
An information session is the first phase of training to become a Resource Parent and is required for all those who are considering taking this step. It provides an introduction to the policies of the DFCS so that those who are interested in becoming Resource Parents can make an informed decision.
Printing services are often called upon to create Flyers and other types of materials promoting the rewards and benefits of such experiences.
Those who want to become Resource Parents should have a desire to open their hearts to support families and children. They should serve as positive role models and provide ongoing support to children during temporary placement so that they can feel nurtured and protected. Resource Parents also typically work with birth parents so that children can be reunited with their families.
Other criteria for becoming Resource Parents include being at least 21 years of age; completing training and taking an orientation class; providing proof of financial stability and residency; and undergoing a medical exam and several other types of screenings.
The session is free and open to the public and will be on Tuesday, March 17 beginning at 6:30 pm.
