WestRock Company, headquartered in Norcross, recently announced the purchase of five corrugated converting facilities from U.S. Corrugated Holdings, Inc., a company which manufactures corrugated products for displays and Packaging.
The facilities are in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio and are used to convert corrugated products that can be used in a variety of products and markets, including consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverages.
Chief executive officer of WestRock, Steve Voorhees, said that this acquisition will enable the company to better serve its customers in the Midwest, expand its reach in regional markets, improve the margins of the company’s business in corrugated packaging, and increase integration. A variety of marketing services could be used by the company to let companies in the Midwest become aware of WestRock’s expanded capabilities.
Voorhees added that it is a pleasure to have the employees of U.S. Corrugated at these five locations join WestRock.
President of Corrugated Packaging for WestRock, Jeff Chalovich, said that the purchase will serve to optimize supply chain management, improve procurements, increase production, and integrate over 150,000 tons of containerboard between the new facilities and another long-term contract with U.S. Corrugated.
WestRock currently employees 36,000 people providing differentiated paper and packaging solutions in North and South America, Asia, and Europe. The acquisition will cost WestRock $192 million and is expected to close later this month.
