New disease treatment space opens in Norcross

A new special care center for patients with highly communicable infectious diseases is now open in Norcross.

The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett has created the Screening and Prevention Annex (SPA). This addition, which spans 500 square feet, is on Buford Highway. Companies providing printing services can be used to Print Booklets and other materials outlining services at new facilities such as this one, either before or after they open.

Previously, healthcare professionals worked outdoors in a tent and wore personal protective equipment to stop the spread of infection from their patients and themselves. This makeshift operation meant weathering the elements and time-consuming planning. A grant from the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act of Gwinnett County has made this new space possible so that patients can be seen indoors, be treated, and receive their necessary vaccines and flu shots.

Dr. Gregory Lang, Executive Director of the SPA, expressed his gratitude to Gwinnett County for making the addition possible. He said that treating patients in a tent made them exposed to the weather and offered little privacy. He added that now can now be served in comfort and with privacy in a dignified setting. He said the SPA will always be used to administer vaccines to adults and children and to care for those with infectious diseases.
