Major meat supplier to open new facility in Norcross

A food processing company with operations in Norcross will be opening a new plant in town and plans to hire close to 100 people. The plant is scheduled to open in January.

Birchwood Foods is building a facility that will be 80,000 square feet in size at a cost of $33m. The positions for which the company is hiring range from production workers to supervisors, and include machine operators, industrial maintenance mechanics, and production and maintenance supervisors. Typically, middle to upper management positions like these require business card printing services.

Birchwood Foods has its headquarters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and supplies frozen and fresh ground beef patties to major fast food chains, including Burger King and Wendy’s. It also offers fully cooked products of chicken, turkey, pork, and beef made to order, as well as meat sauces, chilies, and fully cooked fajita strips for its customers. The company prides itself on providing high-quality foods produced in a clean and safe environment.

Recently awarded a contract with another major restaurant chain, Birchwood now expects to produce an additional 60 million pounds of meat on an annual basis, which translates into 2.5 million pounds per week.

NorcrossWorks is collaborating with Birchwood for the hiring of the 100 new employees. This is the workforce development program of the Department of Economic Development for the city of Norcross.
