Classics and new shows come to Norcross theatre

The Lionheart Theatre Company in Norcross is planning a special event and several theater classics in the next few months.

The first will be a staged reading of “Deli” by Diane Dexter. This is a new play where actors will take the stage to read the script to the audience. There will be a talk-back after the performance for members of the audience to ask questions and provide feedback for further development of the script. There is no charge to attend this performance, but donations will be accepted. It will be on Friday February 5 at 7:00 p.m.

This will be followed the next month by “A Streetcar Named Desire.” This play is by Tennessee Williams and will be directed by R. Chandler Bragg. Performances will run from Friday March 4 through Sunday March 20. “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a comedy, will run from Friday May 6 through Sunday May 22. “Cinderellie-Mae,” another comedy and a youth production, will run for one weekend from Thursday July 14 through Sunday July 17. Poster printing is a popular medium for promoting such performances.

Tanya Gilmer, producing artistic director of the theatre, expressed her thrill about being able to bring these productions to the community as well as the return of their walking tour of Historic Downtown Norcross in the fall and their Summer Youth Drama Camp in June.
