Gala celebration opens Towne Club Windermere

Towne Club Windermere, a retirement community, opened recently in Cumming.

More than 500 people, including local officials, attended the opening ceremony. The gala, which was titled ‘Passport to Resort-Style Retirement Living’, gave attendees a chance to take a tour of the community. There was entertainment as well, and people had a chance to win prizes.

The Towne Club is comprised of 18 memory care suites, 34 apartments designed for assisted living, and 90 apartments for independent living, all in a facility that comprises more than 173,000 square feet, all of it under one roof.

There are many amenities at the facility, including a dining room and cocktail area, a swimming pool that has a fire pit where s’mores are served in the evening, vegetable gardens in raised beds, and an outdoor veranda. Also included are a salon, fitness center, theater, and media center. There are two activity directors on staff to help with event planning, and iPads are provided to all residents in the independent living units.

At the ceremony, David Seago, who is the chairman of the Forsyth County Economic Development Authority, and Ethan Underwood, an attorney specializing in zoning, gave the leadership of the new facility to LaDonna Hagan, who will be the Towne Club’s executive director.
