Friendship Storage, located on Canton Highway in Cumming, has been sold to Boardwalk Development Group (BDG).
The location has already been rebranded with the name Boardwalk Storage. The facility comprises storage space totaling 37,600 square feet, with an additional 23,400 square feet of space for vehicle parking.
The facility is already being renovated. Plans include improving the site's curb appeal and visibility by adding a two-story façade to the management office. The interior of the office will be remodeled to enhance sales and make the customer's experience more pleasant. Also, two of the areas currently designated for parking, which comprise about 15,000 square feet, will be transformed into single-story, climate-controlled storage buildings.
BDG has started an equity investment fund it calls Boardwalk Storage Fund I LLC, valued at $10m, which it plans to use to buy about $50m worth of self-storage facilities. Purchases will focus on properties in a number of southern states that are valued at between $2m and $8m.
In order to attract potential customers to its new facility, Boardwalk might consider working with a flyer printing company on a piece that could be mailed, as well as distributed by hand, that lists the advantages to consumers of storing their goods and vehicles here. Including a coupon is a possible step towards increase the number of people who visit Boardwalk.
