Cumming to adjust ticket and parking prices for fair

When people go to the Cumming Country Fair & Festival this year, they'll find a change in the pricing structure, with a larger group able to attend for free.

According to Forsyth News, members of the city council approved the change by a unanimous vote of 5-0.

Currently, the admission is free for children under four; $3 for students 18 and younger; and $7 for adults. Under the new system, everyone under 10 would be free, and everyone over 11 years of age would pay $7. This would help to streamline operations, especially at the ticket booths, according to fairgrounds administrator Dave Horton. At present there are two tickets at two prices; the new system would be one ticket, one price. Parking fees will increase, though, to $5 from $3.

The event's admission would still be lower than many similar events in the area. Horton said he'd looked at nearby fairs, and found that Gwinnett County charges $7 for everyone, from 6 to 64. The Georgia National Fair, held in Perry, is free to those under 10, and $10 for everyone older. Hiawassee's Georgia Mountain Fair is free for those 12 and under, while everyone over 13 pays $12. This year's fair kicks off October 6, 2016.
