Those in Winter Park can visit the Center for Health & Wellbeing in January to learn about using creativity as a self-care tool.
Creative Caregiving is a program where those who provide care to elders can learn how to use art to interact with their patients. The course is helpful for caregivers who work with people impacted by conditions like dementia or Parkinson’s disease. Ambassadors from the Atlantic Center for the Arts will share simple activities that attendees can easily replicate at home. The Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen will provide soup and bread to participants.
Bethany Bennett and Sonja Jean Craig are the art ambassadors who will give the presentation. Bennett currently works at Daytona State College as a professor and is the community outreach ladder at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. Craig is the secretary of the Florida State Poets Association and received a certification from the Florida State Poets Association. She has also been published in anthologies such as Fresh Fish.
The artistic program for caregivers will be held on Tuesday, January 24 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is no cost to join the lesson, and the organizer will provide all materials. Guests are asked to wear Apparel that they do not mind getting messy. Those who organize public programs like this can use poster printing to share the presentations with others.
