What's Happening in Winter Park, FL…

The community is invited to help Walden Community School create an edible garden in Winter Park.

The School Garden Install event is a project organized by IDEAS For Us that will provide students of Walden Community School with a fresh source of food while teaching them about sustainable farming practices. The organization's Edible Landscapes team is looking for volunteers to help with the physical tasks of setting up the garden. Those who partake in the project are asked to bring drinking water and wear worn clothes. Additional details about the school's event will be emailed to registered volunteers.

IDEAS For Us is a grassroots non-profit organization that uses local projects to benefit the environment and teach people the importance of healing the planet through sustainable actions. Clayton Louis Ferrara is the executive director. The group focuses on five main pillars, including energy, ecology, and water. There are many international branches of the organization in countries such as Kenya, Nepal, Ghana, and Romania.

The garden installation project will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There is no cost to contribute to the event, though registration is mandatory to help IDEAS For Us with the garden. Non-profits that coordinate community activities similar to this may use flyer printing for advertising the project at local buildings like libraries or schools.
