Winter Park Playhouse cabaret coming up

Christopher Leavy, the musical director of the Winter Park Playhouse, will be the featured performer in the upcoming Spotlight Cabaret event.

He will offer an evening entitled ‘As Time Goes By . . .’, which pays tribute to the “stage door canteen” type of performance that was popular during World War II. Leavy will be performing the music that was popular in the 1940s, and the audience is invited to sing along.

Leavy has a 40-year career in show business, appearing in more than 100 shows across the nation, including the Metropolitan Room and Don't Tell Mama Club in New York City. He has been musical director at the playhouse for the last 10 years, but works at other shows in the area. Part of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at the Fort Wilderness Resort at Walt Disney World, he also appears at the Rose and Crown Pub at Epcot Center, the Sak Comedy Lab, and ‘Grinchmas’ at Universal Studios Orlando.

The cabaret is slated for tonight and tomorrow night, beginning at 7:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm both nights. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended. Tickets are $20 each, and a one-drink minimum is required. Once the cabaret is sold out, tickets for ‘Standing Room Only’ will be available for $10, in a limited quantity.

Events like this can be even more fun if the theater works with a poster printing company to create a poster advertising the show.
