The Winter Park History Museum is currently showing an exhibit titled “Hello Sunshine: Selling Florida Through the Art of Postcards.”
This exhibit is a tribute to vacation destinations, vintage vistas, and local landmarks from a historical perspective, but also documents the marketing done by the travel industry across the state of Florida during the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibit features postcard images that range from giant oranges, beach scenes, and alligators to moonlit scenery and architectural photography. Rick Frazee, owner of the Mount Vernon Inn, gave his entire collection of over 1,000 postcards of Winter Park to the museum. There are pamphlets, cards, and other media from destinations around the state to represent those places beyond the limits of the city.
Museums like this can use local printing services to create printed guides for visitors to such unique exhibits.
Christy Grieger, executive director of the museum, said that this was a first for the museum in that it includes locations from across the state. The Museum partnered with the Henry B. Plant Museum in Tampa, the Winter Graden Hertiage Museum, and the Orange County Regional History Center to broaden the scope of the exhibit.
The hours of the Winter Park History Museum are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Tuesday through Friday and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. This exhibit will run until the end of the year.Get a Free Quote for Postcards
