A new taco restaurant is coming to Winter Park.
Hunger Street Tacos will take over the venue that housed BB Junction. For the last two years, Hunger Street has been handling catering assignments from its Lake Mary location, but recently started attending events.
Hunger Street is owned by Joe Creech, who is a child of missionaries who served in Guadalajara. Creech and his brother David both acquired an appetite for Mexican cuisine, especially its street food, during their time they lived in the country. They now want to bring that food to Winter Park.
BB Junction was a fast-casual restaurant known for its use of grass-fed beef and other high-quality ingredients. Creech says he wants to continue using only the best ingredients; for instance, he will substitute cheaper cuts of beef with brisket. One of Hunger Street’s most popular items is their version of taco de suadero, which is traditionally made with a cut of beef from near the belly. Creech will replace that cut with the brisket, but the Mexican toppings and seasoning will stay the same.
The space offers approximately 2,000 square feet, and Creech has already started renovations. He estimates the interior work will take between two and three months, and plans to have Mexican artists’ work on the interior. He and brother David hope to open in November.
