New artists join exhibition in Winter Park

Winter Park officials recently announced new exhibitions in the city's ‘Art in Chambers’ series.

The City of Winter Park has an ongoing exhibit of various works that are on display in City Hall, hence the ‘Art in Chambers’ name. The newest artists to join the ranks of those that have works on exhibit are Dorothy Gillespie and John Nadeau.

Gillespie has created a sculpture entitled ‘Landscape Memory’, and Nadeau has created a series of oil paintings with science-fiction themes, entitled ‘Winter Park After Dark’. The Chapman Room will be the venue hosting Nadeau's paintings, which will be displayed for several months. Gillespie will have her sculpture display in the Commission Chambers, where it will remain throughout the next year.

Among Gillespie's works are site-specific installations, decorative abstracts, and abstract expressionism. She is perhaps best known for her metal sculptures, which are large, brightly painted strips of aluminum curled into gigantic arrangements that resemble towers, ribbons, or even fireworks.

Nadeau's long career includes creating original art for publishers of graphic novels including Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics®, and AC Comics®. Nadeau is now working on a sci-fi graphic novel of original artworks, along with paintings in oil for The Art of Disney® galleries.

Visitors who would like to see the exhibits may view them from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm weekdays, except holidays, at Winter Park's city hall. Brochure printing can be used to provide guides to projects like this.
