Major star coming to Winter Park area

One of the biggest stars in pop music will be in the Winter Park area soon, and tickets are sure to sell out.

Janet Jackson is bringing her Black Diamond Tour to Orlando, a short distance from Winter Park, where she will appear in the Amway Center.

Janet Jackson is the youngest sibling of the Jackson family, and initially came to attention on television, where she played Penny on “Good Times.” She then went on to star in “Fame,” and “Diff'rent Strokes,” before turning to music early in the 1980s.

Her breakthrough didn't come until 1987, when she released her album, “Control.” The album revealed both her beautiful voice and her take-no-prisoners attitude. “Let's Wait Awhile” showed off her softer side, but edgy tracks like “Nasty” took aim directly at domineering collaborators and others who tried to control her life. Five of the singles off the album made it onto the Top 10 charts.

Jackson had six chart-topping songs during the 1990s, and has now emerged from the shadow of her brothers to become an inspiration, particularly to young black women. Brochure printing can provide attractive programs for this type of event.

One review of a live performance said:

“Janet is so amazing. Her drive, her ambition to strive for excellence. Truly and [sic] icon and best performer of all time . . .”

Ms. Jackson will appear at 8.00 pm on June 26.
