The exhibit, "Allure of Ancient Rome: Old Masters Prints and Drawings from the Permanent Collection", is currently showing at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum in Winter Park and will be running until the end of August.
As the title suggests, the exhibit consists of prints and drawings about Roman antiquities; most of them are dated from approximately 1540 to 1750. Many of them have not been displayed at the museum for years. These items feature illustrations of ancient stories, sculpted artifacts and historical buildings. Among the artists whose work will be on display is Stefano della Bella.
There will be two events related to the exhibit taking place at the museum in June. The First Friday/Gallery Talk is about the "Allure of Rome" and will be given by Rangsook Yoon. Guests will enjoy light refreshments. Later on in the month, the Fourth Friday lecture will be on the topic of "Etched Memory: Stefano dell Bella's The Medici Vase and Cosimo III. Both of these events are free.
This exhibit may interest those in Winter Park who work for graphic communications or printing companies; it may give them inspiration for their next project.
The exhibition will be on display at the museum until August 31. Admission is free and the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday.
