Tijuana Flats, a Winter Park-based restaurant, is talking turkey, at least for a limited time.
The restaurant is offering its patrons ground, seasoned turkey as an alternative to ground beef in its current menu items. Tijuana Flats says turkey is a leaner, lower-calorie, healthier meat that will give diners a fresh, new choice in their dishes.
To add to the fun, the restaurant is currently running a contest asking patrons to determine who they know that “deserves to get the bird”, suggesting that people like nagging neighbors and IRS agents might be the ones nominated. People are invited to go to Tijuana Flats' Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook page, and name the person they think should get the bird, using hashtag #giveyouthebird.
Each week, the restaurant will pick the entry it likes best, and give the winner Flats Cash in the amount of $25, so the person who nominated the winner can treat them to a meal. The turkey menu alternative will be available at all the Tijuana Flats locations.
Tijuana Flats is a fast-casual Tex-Mex restaurant founded in 1995 in Winter Park by Brian Wheeler. The chain now has 116 stores in Florida, North and South Carolina, Indiana, Georgia, and Virginia.
