The Komen Florida Race for the Cure will be held next month at the Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach. The chair of the race is Blake Prolow, a high school senior, who is the first male chairperson of the race.
The date for the race is Saturday, January 25. Registration will begin at 5:30 am at Palm Beach Post Centennial Park. There will be a main stage program at the Amphitheatre at 7:00 am, along with the Survivor Café from 7:00 to 9:00 am. The Women’s and Men’s 5K Race will begin at 7:30 am with an awards ceremony for the runners and entertainment at the Amphitheatre at 8:15 am. A Warrior Recognition Ceremony will follow at 9:00 am.
The 5K Walk and 1-mile Family Fun Walk will begin at 9:30 am. There will be awards for the kids’ T-shirt art contest at 10:15 am followed by two Tots Run for the Cure at 10:30 am and 10:45 am, the first for children five years of age and younger and the second for those between 6 and 12 years of age.
Most of the proceeds from the race go towards educational programs, screening, and treatment within the community. The rest go towards Komen’s training grans and national research programs. Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays throughout a community so that people learn more about such races and their fundraising efforts.
