Reptile and amphibian lovers in West Palm Beach and the surrounding areas recently had a chance to show off their pets to others who share their interest.
‘Repticon’ welcomed all sorts of herpetology enthusiasts last Saturday, May 16. There were snake owners, as well as those who have pet frogs, lizards, salamanders, turtles, axolotls, and other types of scaled and slippery creatures. It was estimated that as many as 2,000 of these animals were brought to the event so they could be showed off by their owners.
Along with sales displays by vendors and information booths, there were presentations from experts in the field of herpetology and participants had a chance to showcase the reptiles and amphibians they love. According to one of the vendors who had set up a display, these animal companions are easy to care for and do not tend to require as much attention as more conventional types of pets. This makes them popular with those who are looking for something out of the ordinary.
