West Palm Beach pesto workshop aims to teach

Pesto is a popular food, and while the type made with basil may be the most well known, an upcoming West Palm Beach workshop will give those who participate a chance to discover new varieties they can add to their culinary repertoire.

Food expert and chef Nina Kauder will be facilitating the session, which will give attendees ideas on how to use other, less common herbs to make pesto. She will also discuss the health and nutritional benefits that have traditionally been attached to the different ingredients. Vietnamese oregano, Puerto Rican basil and cilantro will all be on the menu, and will be made into salsas, duxelles, pesto, chermoulas, tapenades and more.

Many of the herbs that will be used can be purchased at the Monts Botanical Garden, so people can try these dishes at home for themselves. Digital copying can be used by the organizer of an event like this to produce Copies of the recipes and other information to give to each person who takes part.

The Culinary! Uncommon Herbs and International Pestos lecture and demonstration will be held in Exhibit Room A at Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach. It is open to members and non-members alike, and the cost for members to participate is$25.00, while for non-members, it is $30.00. Additional details can be found on the Things to do in West Palm Beach website.
