Retired Lieutenant General Darrell K. Williams, a West Palm Beach native, has been appointed as the 13th president of Hampton University.
Hampton is one of the most well-known historically Black colleges or universities (HBCUs) in the United States. Williams is also a graduate of the University in the Class of 1983.
Such new appointments often call for business card printing services.
Williams is a decorated officer who has served in the Office of the Army Chief of Staff as deputy director on Strategic Communications. He was commander of the 3rd Forward Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was also deployed to Iraq in 2017.
Mack Bernard, Palm Beach County Commissioner, said that Williams has had a life of service and leadership and his presidency will have great implications for the future of the university. Bernard added that he exemplifies what is possible as he is not only a native son of West Palm Beach, but was raised in one of the first Black neighborhoods in the area.
The ceremony of investiture will take place in the Convocation Center of the University this afternoon (April 1) from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to proclaim “Darrell K. Williams Day” on that day throughout Palm Beach County in Florida.
