A piece of temporary artwork has been installed in West Palm Beach on the lawn that overlooks the Intercoastal.
This 40-foot wide artwork is made of a number of concentric circles that light up in different colours when they are stepped on. Over 40,000 LED bulbs are tied to motion sensors that cause bursts of light that in different colors that seem to shift and shimmer.
According to the city’s Art in Public Places Coordinator, the effect is that of a pool made of color and light instead of water.
The work was created by Jen Lewin, who is an artist in Boulder, Colorado. It has been made the center of a group of activities called “Summer in Paradise” that will be held throughout the summer that are free and family friendly. They started on June 4th and are set to run until August 29th. Poster printing firms can create advertisements for the events that carry on the overall theme of the activities and even glow in the dark.
The activities that have been planned will include Glow Fore It Minigolf and the “It’s all Glow and No H2O” pool party where will be no water but plenty of summer music and glow in the dark games to enjoy.
