Special grants awarded in West Palm Beach

Those who have been awarded the First Steps: Small Business and Minority/Women Business Enterprise Grants by the Office of Small Minority/Women Business Programs in West Palm Beach have been announced.

This grant program was launched in April and allocated $500,000 in total. There were four categories for which financial assistance was to be awarded—new business development, inventory and equipment, improvement of property, and marketing. There were over 230 applications altogether, making a total amount requested of just over $9m. The lowest amounts requested were $20,000, but they went as high as $50,000.

Among the businesses that received grants were Camiles Flowers & Gifts and Eat ‘n’ Cake LLC for equipment and inventory; Studio B Media Group and Journey C&D Group, Inc. for marketing; The Kookie Box, LLC and Traventwork for new business; and P&L Corporate Solutions LLC and JES Bookkeeping Services LLC for property improvement. Announcements of such important grant recipients can be made known throughout a community with poster printing.

Mayor Kieth James expressed his pleasure on behalf of the city with the way the program has been responded to. He stressed the city’s dedication to helping the community of small businesses make a strong recovery from the events of the past few years.

Director of the Office of Small and Minority Business Programs, Frank Hayden, added his thanks to the collaboration of local business owners who helped in the grant selection process.
