Building a rain barrel is a step homeowners can take to reduce their water usage and prevent excess storm water runoff, and West Palm Beach residents are being offered an opportunity to learn how to make one they can use in own yards.
The city is hosting a water barrel construction workshop, and it is open to all water customers of West Palm Beach. Each family will be able to take their finished barrel home with them, and is reminded to keep this in mind if they are planning to attend. The completed size of the item will be approximately two feet by three feet.
The session can only accommodate a limited number of participants, so anyone who is interested is advised to RSVP as soon as possible to reserve their spot. It is open only to West Palm Beach water customers, and anyone who is signing up to participate will be asked to supply their water account number. Those who organize events such as this can use newsletter printing to create community bulletins that let all area residents know about what’s going on in their local neighborhood.
The free workshop will be held on April 15 in the Pleasant City Community Center, which can be found at 501 21th Street. Both additional details and an opportunity to register have been made available on the community’s website.
