Photography center to discuss color conversion this month

The Palm Beach Photographic Centre in West Palm Beach will be hosting a workshop on how to convert a colored image to one with many hues of gray later this month.

Called “Oz to Kansas: The Black and White on Black and White Conversions,” the workshop will be run by Vincent Versace and Mickey Strand and will focus on to practically approach how to convert an image, and explain when and why one would do so. Attendees will learn those methods that produce the best results, and when to choose a more complex or simpler solution.

Among the topics that will be covered in the workshop will be occasions where an adjustment layer can be used to convert to black and while, and how to separate and bring out the hues in a color image, the use of split-channel conversion, an overview of the Silver Effects Pro Plug-in, and combining a number of conversion techniques to make black and white images look their best. Such workshops often turn to flyer printing to create materials with more details about such topics.

The workshop will be held online on Wednesday, March 17 through Saturday, March 20, with sessions from 1:00 am to noon, and 3:00 to 5:00 pm each day. There will be time for questions and answers, and other discussions, between 1:00 and 2:00 pm.
