A grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will enable the funding of an express bus route from Port St. Lucie to the Intermodal Transit Center in West Palm Beach.
This route would run in the morning and evening on weekdays. Commuters taking it will then be able to walk to the Brightline, the Palm Tran, and Tri-Rail buses. This route will be ideal for those who live in Port St. Lucie and work in Palm Beach County and vice versa.
The bus route will include four round trips, with two trips in the morning and two in the evening. The buses in the morning will operate between 5:00 and 8:00 am, while the evening buses will run from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The trip of 50 miles will be non-stop and will travel along Interstate 95. Information about such new routes, including schedules and costs, is often provided with flyer printing.
Three coach-style buses will be paid for by the grant. Two of these will always be running, with the third acting as a backup if a bus breaks down. The buses will be able to hold 50 people and will have ramps to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as Wi-Fi connection.
The service will be funded by FDOT for three years and will start early next year.
