Lunch in West Palm Beach to feature special speaker

The Palm Beach County Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will be holding a luncheon with Ambassador Nancy Brinker next week at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport Hotel in West Palm Beach.

After the lunch beginning at noon, Brinker, founder of Susan G. Komen and the Promise Fund of Florida, will be the keynote speaker. She is a Lifetime Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a United State Ambassador, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

A leader of the breast cancer movement around the world, Brinker began her crusade with a promise to her sister who was dying of breast cancer, Susan G. Komen, that she would do all she could to raise awareness about this disease.

She demonstrated her creativity in these efforts by starting the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series, which is now the most successful and largest fundraising and education event in the world on breast cancer. She initiated marketing campaigns that advocated for more significant research funding and new legislation, which has led to major advances in research on breast cancer.

Poster printing is one way to inform residents and the community about such unique and informative events.

The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 10, beginning at 11:45 am. The cost to attend is $30 for AFP members and $60 for non-members.
