The South Florida Fair is currently underway at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.
The theme for this year’s Fair is “An Earthly A-Fair,” in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in April. Vicki Chouris, CEO and President of the South Florida Fair, said that the Fair looks to become greener each year. Chouris added that this year’s Fair will be friendly to the environment, showing that small changes in daily living can have a great impact on the planet. In addition, there will be interactive and educational exhibits, entertainment, and activities about climate change; green initiatives; the importance of agriculture; and clean air and water conservation.
There are often Flyers created by local Print shops with more information about such endeavors to help people retain the knowledge they pick up.
Among the exhibits at the Fair are sea life sculptures, created with up-cycled materials found in landfills, on beaches, and at recycling facilities. There will also be an augmented reality experience presented by National Geographic. The experience is centered on a dynamic water hole that enables visitors to meet a wide range of animals, with homes from the Arctic to Africa, as they drink, graze, and interact with the environment.
An exhibit by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will enable visitors to learn about the earth, including global vegetation, surface temperature, and carbon monoxide levels.
The Fair began last Friday and runs through Sunday, May 23.
