Starz Center's Opera Tampa will be presenting The Magic Flute at the end of February and beginning of March.
A Mozart opera masterpiece, The Magic Flute, will be shown for two performances. Audiences will once again be treated to the center's own version of this treasured spoken opera, a German singspiel.
Conductor for the performances will be Michael Francis, and the opera is being directed by Frank McClain.
The libretto tells a story, part fairy tale and part morality play, of Pamina (played by Andrea Baker), Tamino (played by Isaac Hurtado), Papagena, Papageno, Sarastro (played by John Mburu) and Monostatos in an adventure full of wild animals, gods, serpents and other trials. The coloratura aria and immensely popular "Queen of the Night" will be performed by Hein Jung.
Orchestra seats for Friday's performance will run from $132.40 to $150.40; mezzanine seats will be $132.40, and balcony seats will be $110.80. Seats for the Saturday afternoon performance will be $138.40 to $156.40 for Orchestra, $138.40 for mezzanine and $116.80 for balcony.
