Tampa takes emotional film to new heights

A venue in Tampa will be hosting a combo movie night and concert event in late November.

Coco in Concert takes the Disney Pixar film ‘Coco’ and puts it onto a large screen, as well as adding an orchestra to create a more immersive atmosphere. The 2017 movie focuses on a boy named Miguel as he works through discovering the truth about his family and their past. With a setting during Mexico’s Day of the Dead, the story highlights traditions that have been important to generations.

Esin Aydingoz will conduct Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México through playing the score of the film, which was originally composed by Michael Giacchino – an Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar winner. The orchestra is a 20-piece group of musicians.

There are two showings scheduled on the day, with one in the afternoon and the other in the evening. Tickets for both are within a $45.50 to $125.50 range. A VIP bundle of Coco-themed items is available for $89. These packages will be given out to buyers at their event. Poster printing commonly showcases and promotes the lineup of events a company like Straz Center for the Performing Arts has in a season.

The showings are scheduled at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, both taking place at Ferguson Hall on Saturday, November 25.
