Tampa celebrates the holidays

Tampa will have two parades, a tree lighting, and Holiday Spectacular in early December.

Friends of the Riverwalk will present this year's Holiday Spectacular, a stroll through downtown Tampa with holiday lights and Hillsborough River floating barges. Displays will include a 35-foot floating LED-lighted Christmas tree, light poles adorned with red bows and lighted garlands, a decorated gazebo, a gingerbread house, a toy train, two pirate ships, a lighted pine forest, and a penguin trio all floating in the river. It will take place from November 29 to January 2.

Tampa's annual Santa Fest parade will begin at 1:00 pm at Madison and Morgan Streets on Saturday, December 7. The parade route will continue west to Ashley Drive and will end at Cass Street.

Units in Christmas parades often get banner printing done to have colorful red and green Banners introducing them to the spectators.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be afterwards at 6:00 pm in Hixon Waterfront Park. The free ceremony will feature a Christmas concert, lighting the seven trees, and a holiday movie.

On Saturday, December 21, The Tampa Riverwalk Lighted Boat Parade will be on the Hillsborough River beginning at the southern tip of Harbour Island and ending at Sparkman Wharf. The best public viewing areas will be the Convention Center, Curtis Hixon Park, Armature Works, Davis Island, and at the Sparkman Wharf. Judging will take place at Sparkman Warf where first, second, and third place winners of motorboat and sailboat competitions will be announced.
