When Tampa's major league baseball team, the Rays, take the field this season, their fans will be treated to a number of renovations at the ball park.
A recent article confirms there have been changes to the food offered, and a new restaurant has opened, but the biggest change is the addition of a walkway that circles the entire playing field at the lower seating level. Fans will be able to walk around the park and watch the game from the walkway, if they prefer that to their seat.
The Everglades BBQ Smokehouse is gone, replaced by an open-air spot titled the Porch in Centerfield, which is designed to be a spot for Rays' fans to gather and enjoy food and drink. The Porch has no roof, but netting has been installed to protect people from getting hit by batted balls. The team suggests it will be a great spot for people to meet before games, and to celebrate afterward. On one side of the Porch, the rays that give the team its name swim in a tank covered by protective netting.
On the ground floor of the stadium, an eatery called the Everglades Brewhouse will be serving hearty fare that should help make up for the Smokehouse closing.
The Rays' management may want to work with a banner printing company to create items to celebrate the stadium’s improvements, and opening day as well.
