All a person wants to know about sharks will be the focus of this year's 10th annual SharkCon coming to Tampa in mid-July.
The event has been organized to raise awareness of ocean conservation and sharks, and is a fundraiser for shark and ocean conservation efforts.
Shark- and ocean-related items will be available for purchased by more than 100 vendors. Some items will include art, collectibles, jewelry and clothing. Water sports professionals will be on hand for guests to experience indoor scuba diving and other water sports. What boy doesn't enjoy wearing a T-shirt sporting a shark graphic design?
Local groups and global organizations will be presenting free interactive experiences, and speakers have been selected from Sharkfest, and scientists and representatives from aquariums, Animal Planet, Shark Week and Field Research will be giving talks.
The expo will have exhibits from organizations such as National Geographic, Florida State University, Sea World Animal Rescue Rehabilitation and OCEARCH. Activities will be the shark slide, Mermaid Area, Zoo Tampa, the Brevard Zoo (including its Sea Turtle Healing Center), Jaws Car, and Sharks4Kids.
Expo Hall will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday with presentations and a celebrity autograph area. From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm the hall will have a Celebrity Meet and Greet, and a Questions & Answer session at 6:15 pm.
Tickets range from $5.95 to $19.95 for children and $24.95 to $29.95 for adults.
SharkCon 2024 will take place July 13 and 14 at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall, 4800 US Highway 301 N.
