Pharmacy technicians to get extra points at Tampa conference

The LiTech Institute Company will be hosting the Pharmacy Technician Live CE Conference.

An opportunity for Pharmacy Technicians to get a total of four CE credits, this is one event where Business Cards are likely to be exchanged among industry professionals.

The first presenter will be Lisa Thompson, who is an adjunct professor at Barry University. She will be presenting on medication errors and prevention with her presentation called ‘Medication Safety and the Pharmacy Technician’. Through this two-hour discourse, technicians will be learning how to identify, prevent, and report on medication errors.

The second presenter will be Tania McCabe, who is a pharmacy technician with CVS pharmacy. In her presentation, called Extemporaneous Compounding for Pharmacy Technicians, McCabe will be explaining how extemporaneous compounding works in medications, preventing errors, and the recipes involved in compounding. Extemporaneous compounding is mixing the ingredients, putting on the labels, assembling, and Packaging of prescribed medication.

The Pharmacy Technician Conference will be held at Hillsborough Community College, Tampa in the DSTU Building of the Dale Maybury Campus in Rooms 108 and 110. Clients are asked to refrain from contacting the school and to contact the LiTech Company instead.

Tickets are $70 and can be purchased through Eventbrite. The event will be on Saturday, August 25. Thompson’s presentation will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and McCabe’s presentation will follow from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.
