According to several sources, a developer may be planning to create a mixed-use project at the site of the Tampa Tribune building. Sources asked for anonymity because of the deal’s sensitivity.
The Tribune building is located at 202 South Parker Street, and the site comprises 4.4 acres located on the riverfront, as well as the Tribune building, which is almost 60,000 square feet, including the area for the presses. The price for the property is thought to be about $19m.
A private equity group bought the Tribune for $9.5m in 2012, but the seller, Media General Inc., kept the ownership of Channel 8 (WFLA), as well as the building housing the station, which is located at 200 Parker Street. The Channel 8 building is not part of the redevelopment effort.
The developer thought to be involved in the deal is The Related Group, a residential developer from South Florida that has pursued projects in Tampa recently. The Related Group is planning to build a tower on Harbour Island. It also built and then sold the Pierhouse, located in the Channel District.
A mixed-use development would mean housing units and commercial spaces in the same project. Once the commercial tenants move in, they could work with Stationery printers to create attractive letterhead reflecting their new premises.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
