Traditional boat festival returns to Florida
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle and the Tavares Chamber of Commerce, the 13th annual Central Florida Dragon Boat Festival is now just over two weeks away.
The event will kick off with opening ceremonies on the evening before the races begin. This will include speeches, the awakening of the dragon and dragon dance, a performance by the Orlando Taiko Drummers, and a fireworks display over Lake Dora.
The fees for those who wish to participate in the dragon boat races are $850 for a mixed team, $700 for women's, pink, or Rotary Teams, and $55 for nonprofit organizations. Awards will be handed out at the end of the day for first place in categories like Community Champion, Team Spirit, and Senior, as well as for the overall winner. There will also be entertainment from the Epcot acrobats, an egg roll eating contest, musical performances, and vendors.
Many of the participants will come from nearby communities such as Ocoee to compete in this race. Organizers may invest in flyer printing services to ensure as many people know about the event as possible.
The Central Florida Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Wooton Park from March 13 to 14. Contact the Tavares Chamber of Commerce at 352-343-2531 to learn more about this event, or to register a team.
