Termite extermination course planned near Ocoee
In February, the Pest Management University (PMU) will hold a three-day course entitled Termite Foundations, which may be of interest to nearby Ocoee residents with professions relating to pest management.
The Pest Management University is a part of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension program (UF/IFAS), which is a collaboration between federal, state, and county governments to offer scientific knowledge and training to the public. The PMU is a global leader in pest management education and has been providing pest control training courses for the past 12 years.
The Termite Foundations course will focus on the basics of termite biology and behavior, especially that of subterranean termites. The multi-day course will also guide students through soil termiticide calculations, treatment techniques, and pesticide safety. The content is designed for any professionals whose field relates to pest management, such as schools, food safety, public health, and regulatory fields.
The course will start Wednesday, February 3 and run through Friday, February 5, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm each day. The registration fee is $407 and can be purchased by from the University's website. The venue will be the UF/IFAS Mid-Florida Research and Education Center at 725 S. Binion Road, Apopka.
