What's Happening in Ocoee, FL…

Ocoee hosts Advisory Council meeting

The Advisory Council for the Fire Department will host its meeting this August, offering citizens an opportunity to become members of the council.

The advisory council aims to cultivate and maintain a good relationship between the citizens, the City Commission, and the Fire Department. It participates in outreach projects through its Fully Involved Program, and partners with local companies to assist in community projects. The program also gives residents, members of the council, and members of the Fire Department the chance to volunteer in these projects.

The program has assisted organizations such as Hands for Humanity and Seniors First Home Safety Blitz, and is on board with helping the Ronald McDonald House in impending renovations.

To be eligible for membership, citizens must either be residents of Ocoee or owners of investment property in the city. Membership is also open to owners of businesses in Ocoee as per the Advisory Council's bylaws.

The agenda and minutes for the meeting are accessible on the city's webpage, although access to the minutes is granted only through approval.

Local companies at the events such as these may offer corporate gifts to increase their exposure to Ocoee citizens.

The meeting will be held on August 12 in the training room of Fire Station 25, beginning at 7:00 pm. The location is 563 S Bluford Avenue Ocoee, Florida 34761.
