Ocoee gets jazzy with workshop

The HAPCO organization will host a jazz clinic this February.

The event is aimed at middle and high school band students, and aims to provide aspiring musicians with skills necessary to improve their craft.

The clinic is led by Jeff Rupert, who serves as the director of Jazz Studies at the University of Central Florida. Tips on industry technique will be included in the seminars. There will be critique of performances, as well as masterclasses on topics such as improv, music theory, and vocal performance.

For those seeking career advice, there will be classes about the music industry business. The topics will include industry careers, working as a performer, and university-level programs and applications.

When the clinic ends, patrons can look forward to the free jazz concert, which will last an hour and a half and will feature performances by the UCF Flying Horse Big Band and the Ocoee High School Jazz Band.

Those looking to register for the event can contact Bernie Hendricks at bernard.hendricks@ocps.net. Poster printing can be a great way to advertise and provide information about events such as these.

The Jazz Clinic will be held on February 5 at the Ocoee High School located at 1925 Ocoee Crown Point Parkway, Ocoee, Florida, 34761. The clinic begins at 8:30 am with the concert starting at 3:00 pm and continuing until 4:30 pm.
