Leesburg to honor veterans with community event

Veterans Memorial Park in Leesburg will hold an event for Memorial Day in May to honor those who have served.

The Memorial Day Program is an annual community tradition where people can come together to remember and show gratitude to those in the military. There will be an hour-long ceremony during the program that will feature an appearance by John Manning, an ambassador for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Guests can also enjoy a live show by the King Guys Band, a group based out of Orlando that can play pop classics, traditional polkas, and marches.

The Tunnels to Towers Foundation that combats homelessness among veterans and first responders by providing people with mortgage-free homes and permanent apartments. The group has worked with more than 17,500 veterans and organizes events that attract over 500,000 participants. Some of the programs offered by the foundation include the Footsteps to the Future Endowment and the Gold Star Family Home Program.

The Memorial Day Program will be held on Saturday, May 23 and will begin at 10:00 am. All members of the community are invited to attend the memorial session, and there will be no cost for guests to attend the event.
