Lakeland hosts indigenous event

International Market World presents the 27th staging of the Spirit of the Buffalo Pow Wow and Native American Festival in a few weeks.

The two-weekend event will be held under the Big Top and directed by Gary Hayes. It is the biggest Native American Pow Wow in Florida and features live buffaloes and alligators. The festival will have an Indian village with historic artifacts, horseback riding, archery demonstrations, workshops, native American arts and crafts, food, and music. There will also be an inter-tribal dance competition where the winner will win the luck of the draw prize money. Those interested in attending can take their drums and school groups are welcome. Campsites will be available and there will be free RV and bus parking.

Adult admission costs $5, senior citizens aged 55 and older pay $4, and kids 12 and older pay $3. Under-12s are admitted free, and a weekend pass for three days costs $12. Those living in cities in Polk County such as Bartow, Mulberry, and Lakeland may want to attend this nearby festival.

Flyer printing is an inexpensive and creative way for organizations to provide information about indigenous people at festivals such as this.

The event will be from January 27 to 29, and from February 3 to 5, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. It will be held at the International Market World at 1052 Auburndale Highway in Auburndale, Florida 33823. Visit the website or call 863-665-0062 / 863-458-2719 for more information.
