The Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art will organize an art market by Lake Morton in Lakeland.
Mayfaire by-the-Lake is an annual marketplace where people can browse booths from over 150 art vendors along the shores of Lake Morton. Proceeds from the event will help the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art fund student scholarships for its programs and keep museum admission free for all guests. Many kinds of art will be sold here, including ceramics, paintings, jewelry, and photographs. There will even be a Kids Zone at the market.
The first Mayfaire by-the-Lake was held in 1971 at the Lakeland Library and it has grown to a major local event. Artists who participate in the juried art event can win awards and cash during the market. People interested in helping out at the marketplace may become cart drivers, booth sitters, and photographers. The event organizers are also looking for volunteers to help run hands-on crafting activities at the Kids Zone.
The art market will be held on May 9 and 10 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no cost for people to check out the art vendors. Artists who have applied to be part of the market will get their jury results by next Monday, March 23. Those who have stalls at similar art events to this may use banner printing services to make their spaces stand out to consumers.
