Lakeland complex celebrates 50 years

The business and social dynamic of Lakeland is an active one, and a local venue recently celebrated five decades of contributions to that energy.

The RP Funding Center celebrated 50 years of community contribution on September 6, when it hosted 50 Years of Music and Memories. The family-friendly event opened to the public, allowing attendees to experience guided tours of the facility, view interactive displays, and meet many of the personnel responsible for event production. The event also included live music, kid-friendly activities, and food vendors. Hosts capped off the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, noting the beginning of the next 50 years. Some of the musical guests appearing over the years include Elvis Presley, Van Halen, KISS, and Duran Duran. Some popular acts booked for the near future include The U.S. Army Field Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Cirque Dreams Holidaze.
